For the first time in history, Coachella Valley played host to an NBA basketball game last night when the Phoenix Suns took on the Denver Nuggets in a pre-season game was held at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. The game was only the second time in Phoenix Suns history that the team played an outdoor game, the first being in San Juan, Puerto Rico 36 years ago. Other than the Pacific Life Tennis Open, this qualified as the biggest professional event to hit the desert in recent memory, the fact that it was televised nationally on TNT only adding to this claim.
